We are presently enrolling individuals in the Cathecumenate Program (R.C.I.A.). Those wishing to become Catholic and/or seeking information about the teachings of the Catholic Church are invited to call the Parish Office, 722-3413, between 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, to pre-register for these classes that will begin in the Fall. Also, we are presently seeking individuals from our parish community to be with these individuals throughout their Journey in Faith as a Sponsor. If interested, please call the Parish Office, 722-3413.
Need a Ride to Sunday Mass or want to bring others to Mass?
If you are someone you know needs a ride to attend Mass, the parish provides transportation to the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass. Just call the Parish Office, 722-3413, and we will be glad to put you on our schedule. If you are interested in helping to provide this service, we are also looking for drivers - call and talk to Derick Drummond, 722-3413.
St. Vincent de Paul Pantry
Due to recent increases in the cost of living, more and more people are in need of our help. In the last couple of months, donations of food have decreased while the number of people asking for assistance has dramatically increased, leaving our food pantry seriously short of supplies. If you can help, please bring any non-perishable food items to the church. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
The Children's Liturgy
The Children's Liturgy (for 3-10 yrs. old) at the 11:30 a.m. Sunday Mass is a good way to engage younger children and help them understand the Sunday readings on their own level. We hope parents will allow their children to participate, and they are welcome to accompany their children at any time. We hope parents will help their children with the bulletins and activity sheets they receive during the Children's Liturgy, so that they can help them learn more about Scripture.
Senior Companions
If you know of someone who is elderly and needs someone to check on them, or if you would like to volunteer to be a caller to check on them, or visit them, please call Derick at the Parish Office, 722-3413.
Parish Nursery
The parish furnishes nursery care for children up through 5 yrs. old at the 9:30 a.m. & 11:30 a.m. Masses every Sunday. The nursery is located just outside the back of the Day Chapel.
Special Announcement
You can remember a loved one, living or deceased, with an enrollment for $5.00 or a memorial for $10.00 to the Beaumont Clerical Student Fund, and endowment fund for the education of men for the priesthood for the Diocese of Beaumont. For more info., call Roberta Gard, 722-2320.
When You Are in the Hospital
When you are in the hospital: The federal law known as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) permits patients/residents in medical facilities to withhold from the public their room numbers and telephone numbers. If you decline HIPAA privacy when registering in the hospital, there will be no problem locating you. If you use HIPAA privacy, please call the parish and provide information as to your hospital room number. Always register as a Catholic; otherwise, clergy and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion will not know you are in the hospital.
If you have loved ones or friends who are members of our parish community in the following hospitals - Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Doctor's, Baptist, St. Mary's, and St. Elizabeth's - who wish to be visited and/or contacted by members of our parish during their stay, call the Parish Office, 722-3413. We are beginning a new ministry of visits to parishioners by members of our parish. Because of new privacy laws, we must be informed by the patient or family.
Parish Council Asks for Your Help
St. Charles Parish Council would like to send greetings to parishioners serving in the global war against terrorism. If you know of someone serving in the armed forces overseas, please call the Parish Office, 722-3413, with their name and address.
From the Pastor:
Presentation of the Gifts: Occasionally, we are asked how parishioners are chosen to bring the gifts of bread, wine, and money to the altar during Mass. If you would like to perform this task, symbolizing the community's gift of itself to God, ask the usher at the front entrance of the Church if you or your family/friends might do so. If someone has not already volunteered, you will be most welcome to do so.
The Rosary
The Rosary is prayed every Friday afternoon at 4 pm in the Day Chapel for the sick of our parish or any special intentions. All are invited to come and pray this special devotion.
Just a Note to Remind You
We wish to remind you of the importance and necessity of officially registering as a member of St. Charles Parish. Your identity as a registered member helps us to better serve you, especially at times of conferring the Sacraments. If you have not officially registered, please call the Parish Office at 722-3413.

St. Charles Vocations Traveling Chalice
Pope John Paul II declares that the Eucharist is the source of all Vocations and ministries in the church, and enjoins all believers to consider their own personal vocation, to complete in their lives what is lacking in the church. It is to labor so that every priest and every consecrated person rediscover the beauty of their own vocation and witness it to others. The People of God shall rise an ever more intense and impassioned prayer to the Lord of the harvest to send more laborers into His harvest.
The Traveling Chalice is presented by the Celebrant to a parish family or individual during Mass. The family takes the chalice to their home and displays it in a place of honor. Every night at the start of the family or individual meal, the Vocations Prayer is shared and discussed by the members of the family. At the end of the week, the chalice is returned to the priest and transferred to another parish family/individual.
When parish families pray for Vocations over the St. Charles Vocations Traveling Chalice and make it a part of their family mealtime for a week, they increase their family's awareness of the need for vocations and their role in it. At the same time, the parish benefits because the family is more involved in raising the awareness level of all members of the parish by their example.
